چکیده

The objective of this work is to a physical model describe the thermal performance cylindrical tank filled with spherical water capsules during storage period. A particularity encountered in type storage; it refers supercooling phenomenon caused by delay crystallization capsules. originality consists evaluating heat flux exchanged between transfer fluid (HTF) and using experimental data (here, temperature) an inverse method. method addressed genetic algorithm (GA). determined for one case flowrate condition has been applied other flowrates evaluate temperature HTF at outlet obtained results are then compared from literature. good agreement was found numerical results. influence on shape released period also analysed discussed.

Heterogeneous surface crystallization observed in undercooled water.

We report laboratory observations of higher freezing temperatures when an ice-forming nucleus is near the surface of an undercooled water drop than when the nucleus is immersed in the drop. The nucleation rate at the water surface is a factor of 10(10) greater than in bulk water, thereby complementing and providing evidence for homogeneous surface crystallization, which has been hypothesized re...

Crystallization of undercooled liquid fenofibrate.

Formulation of hydrophobic drugs as amorphous materials is highly advantageous as this increases their solubility in water and therefore their bioavailability. However, many drugs have a high propensity to crystallize during production and storage, limiting the usefulness of amorphous drugs. We study the crystallization of undercooled liquid fenofibrate, a model hydrophobic drug. Nucleation is ...

Repeated crystallization in undercooled Zr41Ti14Cu12Ni10Be23 liquids

Isothermal crystallization studies are performed on Zr41Ti14Cu12Ni10Be23 melts. Undercooling experiments are carried out repeatedly at 907, 860, and 750 K. The scattering of the time to reach the onset of crystallization is investigated. Results from experiments performed at 907 K show a large scatter of the onset time of crystallization. For the experiments carried out at 860 and 750 K, scatte...

Conditions for metastable crystallization from undercooled melts

The limits of validity of Ostwald’s rule of stages are investigated theoretically in the case of crystallization of undercooled melts. The treatment is within the limits of capillary theory. Two basic models are compared: (1) According to the first one (model A), the phase with lower energy of formation of critical nucleus is predominantly formed. In an enantiotropic-type phase diagram there is...

CFD Modelling of an Underground Water Tank Heat Storage System

In this work, CFD is used to simulate the flow in an existing thermal labyrinth located at the basement of a hospital building. This labyrinth is an underground channel equipped with water tanks to increase the thermal mass and reduce the heating and cooling demand of the building. Thermal energy storage in the water tanks is a complex heat transfer phenomena involving turbulent forced convecti...
